Communication within an Organization

Every organization has a network of people that come from different walks of life with different cultures. Communication is the unifying factor that makes people with different views work together towards achieving the organization’s goals. Communication between the members of the company ensures that there is a flow of information between the workers in an organization. There is a need to ensure good flow of information between members in an organization; however, challenges may arise while delivering the message and as a result a communication breakdown may occur. The NOVA Foster Care is a non-profit organization that offers medical services that include psychiatric treatment, inpatient, substance abuse therapy, and foster care. These are roles that require a lot of coordination between the members of the working team to achieve maximum results and render services to as many people as possible. This paper looks at the communications processes of Nova Foster Care, and the communication challenges that the organization facing while discharging its duties.

Communication at the workplace is essential and critical in every organization and with the high volume of work that employees at NOVA have to contend with a well- coordinated communication system is essential. The support system of co-workers is one of the most successful and helpful systems of communication at NOVA. The system allows the workers to be well versed about their workmates and engage with the workers giving them an opportunity to know their co-workers and supervisors at a personal level. Maintaining an environment that fosters respect and support to each other is a valued at NOVA and helps the employee relations and smooth flow of the organization. NOVA is responsible for foster care parents and providing foster services to the youth. This means that the organization is responsible for maintaining an interaction with the members of the public to help with foster care programs and train the foster parents. In this regard, the organization utilizes forms of communication such as face-to-face, phone, texting, and e-mail to keep the foster parents, and youth appraised on any specific information that they needed. In addition, the organization has to communicate with the professionals involved in the guardianship process. These may include a parent’s attorneys, the Guardian ad Litem, and the family support worker. These are members of the public who provide professional services and are necessary in a child removal case. The organization is concerned with the well-being of the child and therefore, they should interact with the professionals in a way that gets the best for the children. These deliberations are in some cases very hard to handle because each party has its interest and therefore need to be handled with care.

There are challenges that arise with the interactions that the organization is involved in while conducting their daily activities. The workload that the workers at the organization have to endure is very involving and challenging, and a breakdown in communication is inevitable. Another challenge is the communication with the clients especially the members of the public who are on the foster care program. This is deemed to be more of challenges than breakdown in communication between employees since the employees have to deal with the members of the public who are not always accessible. In addition, the problem of communication between the organization and professionals is also a huge challenge to the organization since they represents the interests of the representative parties. The organization looks for ways to come at an amicable solution to the problems and challenges that arise within the organization involved. However, if the parties involved do not come to an understanding, the third party is required to mediate in the matter.

In conclusion, a foster organization needs to implement proper communication strategies and procedures due to the procedure involved in running a foster care organization. The communication processes involved in NOVA organization is essential and keeping a good communication processes aid in developing the organization and in achieving the intended goals of serving the people.
