You may write an essay in which you explore the notions of “festive comedy” and “comic faith” in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. To this end you might reflect in the following questions: What is the role of the supernatural in the play? What character or characters represent natural goodness in the world? There are many ironic moments in the play; how do theses moments help define the comedy as festive? Reflect on these questions, but do not feel that you must answer them.
