Sporting Event Papers: For this paper you will need to attend a sporting event of your choosing. The event must either be a professional sporting event or a college sporting event. Thus attending an intramural softball game or your nephew’s T-ball game and writing about it would not count. The goal of this paper is for you to observe and write about the paper through a critical lens. The style you chose to utilize is up to you e.g. you paper might resemble the work of Nick Trujillo at the ball park, the satirical style of George Plimpton and Bill Simmons, or even the gonzo journalistic style Hunter S. Thompson. What is in important is that your paper should discuss all the relevant elements present in the theory of Dramatism (for example scene, act, actors, etc…). Your paper will also be graded on how well it exemplifies Fisher’s narrative paradigm (e.g. does is contain have both fidelity, coherence, voice, etc…). Finally, you need to adopt one or more of the three perspectives discussed and explained by Trujillo in his at the ballpark (i.e. interpretivism, functionalist, and critical perspective) (Approximately 5-10 pages).
