In your career as a student and professional, building the habit of maintaining an awareness of the offerings found on professionally relevant websites and in scholarly journals will be invaluable. You will have several opportunities in this course to focus on topics related to leading and managing change through these professional resources. This is also an opportunity to build or add to your own professional “tool kit” of resources that may be helpful to you throughout and beyond this program.

Part 1:
Choose one of the following topics from a leadership perspective:
Access, funding, speed of change, priorities of diverse stakeholders, the relation of work to education, the impact of technological change, or mobility of students.
Select an article from one of the following professional resource sites:
Inside Higher Education
The Chronicle of Higher Education
American Association of Community Colleges (AACC)
Then, select a minimum of two academic journal articles from the resources relating to the topic you selected.
Write an executive summary of the articles you selected and include the following in your analysis:
How do the points raised in the articles influence leadership in colleges and universities?
What would effective change leadership look like in the context of the topic you chose?
Part 2:
Review the websites of the professional organizations listed below (and other professional higher education organizations) to identify topics that are being presented on leadership. List a maximum of three references you were able to identify that relate to what you focused on this week. Then, explain why it would be important for a higher education leader to have involvement with these types of organizations. How would involvement in any of these organizations assist you in achieving your professional goals?
