You are required to write a report describing how you would set up, run and interpret the results of a flow simulation in SolidWorks to demonstrate the extended Bernoulli equation.
The report should be written in the form of a step-by-step tutorial, comprising a list of numbered instructions. Assume that the working fluid is water, which will flow through a pipe that has the following features: a sudden contraction, a bend, and a sudden expansion.
Your report should be succinct and include the following information:
? Creation of the pipe in SolidWorks. (20 marks)
? Setting up the flow calculation. (10 marks)
? Solving the flow calculation. (5 marks)
? Plotting the results. (15 marks)
? Interpreting the results. (30 marks)
An additional mark out of 20 will be added for the overall clarity and presentation of the report.
In order to complete the work you will be required to carry out relevant research, which will undoubtedly involve using material found on the Internet. You must reference all of your sources of information. If you obtain screenshots from the Internet you must acknowledge your sources and annotate them to indicate where your simulation would differ from the images you use.
In your section on how you would interpret the results, you should include sketches of expected flow patterns around the pipe features.
