Caroline's Herrera

Caroline’s Herrera
Order Description
Submit your final, 10-page paper discussing the designer and related themes as detailed above. The paper should follow the designer/brand in their coverage within the media, their advertising strategies, and by looking at the clothing itself. You should cite at least 8 sources for this paper—5 of which must be academic in nature

Pick a designer or fashion line and explore its history and impact in popular culture. Select two themes or concepts from the course that you feel this designer/brand is directly connected to – whether they use those themes as inspiration, or inspired new discussion regarding that theme. (For example, if I were to investigate Rick Owens, I might draw connections to gender/sexuality and subculture; if I were looking at Juicy Couture, I’d be interested in researching celebrity and society, and so on.) The purpose of this final paper is for you to demonstrate your knowledge of the interconnection of media, culture, and fashion, and apply those concepts to your own research. Please note that the final paper has two components:

This is my paper proposal what it needs to be about and you can expand on it based on the questions for this assignment
For my final paper proposal I would like to write about Carolina Herrera. I chose this designer because in my opinion it’s one of the few designers that resemble what true elegance is. She embodies the saying that less is more and that sometimes a simple dress can become such a statement in elegance and style. She is from Venezuela and started her career there before she became such a success. Her mentality regarding fashion is very similar to what fashion is in Venezuela and the society there. It is all about elegance and culture. I would like to talk about my country’s fashion and how Carolina Herrera embodies it.
The Venezuelan woman requires a unique blend of style and conservatism. This gives a designer a worthy challenge to push creative boundaries while remaining in well-defined limits. Carolina Herrera designs portray the fact that elegance and simplicity go hand in hand. A perfect dress will always accentuate the qualities of the wearer while making the person feel confident. The real essence of designing is to meet the client’s expectations and come up with apparel that caters for the unique needs of every person. We have discussed the topic of “Fashion and Society”and fashion and the body that I think relate a lot to what I am going to write about. Some of the questions I will be exploring in my paper are:

“How does Carolina Herrera balance society’s expectations in Venezuela while creating her designs and how does it reflect to the designer’s style?”
“How is fashion produced and consumed in Venezuela related to the culture of the country?”
“How much has the style in Venezuela change through the years and does it reflect on the designers design”
For my sources I will go to her various stores in the city so I can take notes. I will also research on Venezuelans magazine “Country club” witch is basically a magazine for Venezuelans high class society, where you can see the cultures of that society and they style. ( talk about this magazine bullshit just basically say that is for high class etc)
You need to use this references for this research paper ( I will upload them) plus many others that you can choose for yourself
