BYZANTIUM AND THE EARLY MIDDLE AGES AND THE LATE MIDDLE AGES (BURGUNDIAN/GOTHIC)

Students are asked to review the differences and write a synopsis of no less than six pages (both sides of three sheets) on the development between clothing during the Early Christian/Byzantine/Romanesque and the developments throughout the Gothic period (Early and Late), focusing on the impact that the French Burgundian court had on the development of fashion in Northern Europe. In addition local regional and national costumes should be defined and mentioned.

Students must provide historical references as covered during the lectures, together with names and terminology of actual garment pieces as worn in different parts of Europe.
