Instructions for Assessment 4: Project Plan
The following needs to be completed to attempt this assessment: Read the Z&A Text Book pg85-133 attachment Read the Z&S Text Book pg195-223 attachment Read the Tim Guglielmucci Project Business Case Feedback attachment. This was my submission for Assessment 3 which this assessment builds upon. My lecturer has provided feedback to use for this assessment in the pdf. Please take this into consideration as I did not get a good grade for assessment 3.Additional feedback: This business case is an improvement on your project proposal. I have passed it because you have assembled the basic material you need for your project plan assessment task. But as my in-text comments indicate, you need to think much more carefully about the structure of your argument. Key weaknesses include, for example, the fuzzy handling of the two elements of your project (ie a technology refresh for the Manuka restaurant and a new restaurant in the CBD) and internal inconsistencies (eg Little Europe is described as a raging success on one page and on the next page is described as uncompetitive.) Read the retail business project background below, which is what the business plan will be about. Use gantt charts and various other tables and graphs throughout the assessment. Read the Assessment Item 4 Project Plan, which outlines the business plan in detail.1. A retail business project background
In preparing your BOMP project brief, business case and project plan, you can either adopt the following retail business project scenario as it stands or you can vary it to suit another retail business scenario that you consider better suited to your interests or experience.
You are the junior partner in a small firm (say ten employees) that operates a profitable restaurant in a fashionable part of town, Manuka in Canberra, ACT. The firm is owned by a builder of European origin who emigrated to Australia in the 1950s and subsequently made a modest fortune building houses and suburban shops to meet the needs of Canberras growing population. The firms owner relies heavily on the counsel of the more senior partner. You and the senior partner are seeking to generate greater profits (and thereby boost your respective remuneration) by establishing a similar restaurant elsewhere. This would require the firms owner to fund the purchase or lease of suitable premises and the fitting out of those premises. You have identified what you think is potentially suitable premises in what you think is a suitable part of town.Your project brief is aimed at gaining the agreement of the senior partner to your preparing a business case. You will then prepare a business case for the senior partner to take to the firms owner. The firms owner will give in-principle agreement to the business case but actual funding is subject to your preparing an appropriate project plan.
(For assessment 3, I have chosen to locate the second restaurant in the Canberra CBD, and also refurbish and upgrade the existing restaurant to attempt to generate greater profits as a part of this project. Please review the Business Case Feedback for my prior submission).ZBUS8210 Critical Analysis of Business, Due 6th September 11:55pm
