Raghu, studying in a school, completed his Std. Xth and wants to change his school and take admission in some other school for higher secondary education. He makes an application to the school authorities to give him a transfer certificate, bonafide certificate and a school leaving certificate. The school demanded Rs. 39000/- as fees from Raghu, stating that the school management in the institution’s prospectus had clearly instructed the students to pay the complete fees up to Standard XIIth even if they leave the school after Std. Xth. Also, the school erroneously entered a wrong date of birth in the school leaving certificate and the school in the bonafide certificate mentioned the conduct of the student as bad. This led to a loss of admission to the student in another school . The student is not able to understand what to do. You are requested to guide the student from the view point of law.
