Paper instructions:
A proposal argument, written for an academic audience, in which you will recommend a public policy or initiative as best the solution to the problem you’ve been researching. Your essay should build upon (and use excerpts from) your historical analysis, and it should present several voices as it argues for your own perspective.

Advocacy Essays must present a clear framework for recommending this solution: causation, coverage, cost/benefit comparison or feasibility. In addition, your argument must present clear and detailed information about how the solution will address the underlying causes of the problem. Your argument must also clearly address who supports the solution, who opposes the solution, and what alternatives there might be to the solution. Failure to turn in drafts as requested may result in a failing grade on the essay.

The purpose of this project is to advocate a change in policy or behavior, and to base your argument for that change on your academic research using your critical thinking and writing skills. Thus, the work you have done to this point in the course leads to this final (major) assignment. It is an assignment that asks you to put your academic work into action in the world. (You are not required, however, to send, post, or otherwise submit your final project to the audience you address.)

Building on what you wrote in Part 1 last week, locate, read, and write about the research and findings in two articles about your topic. These articles should have been published in the past two years in refereed nursing journals. Your paper should analyze, compare, and contrast the authors’ hypotheses, methods, and findings. In addition, you need to make revisions to Part 1 based on the feedback from your instructor, your readings, and/or discussions in class.
