As mentioned previously, you will be required to read a book and watch a movie based on that book that deals with American history. The book and movie you choose is not limited to the time period of the class, so you can select a book and a film from any time period in American history. The compare and contrast paper will be worth a total of sixty (60) points. This is NOT a free sixty points, so DO NOT mess around! I will be checking for format, spelling, and grammar.
The paper is to be three (3) pages long, double spaced with one (1) inch margins all the way around with a twelve (12)point font size in either Courier New or Times New Roman font. The due date for the review is April 10. This will allow me to get your papers back to you by the day of the final exam. Five (5) points will be taken off the paper if it is turned in late.
The heading should be in the top left corner and along with the title (which will be name of the book/movie you are reviewing) and the body should look like this:
Heather Hightower
History 1301.125
Mr. Pellerin
4/14/16
We Were Soldiers
Start of the review. Then from here on out the text should be double spaced and continue for three pages.
INSTRUCTIONS:
First, read a book based on American history. Next, watch the movie based on the book. Finally, write a three page paper comparing and contrasting the book with the movie. To do this, simply tell me what the book and the film had in common, and then tell me how they differed. The first section of your paper should explain what the book and film are about. The second section should be comparing and contrasting the book and the movie. The third section should briefly discuss the historical accuracy of the book and the film, and it should also include your opinion about the book and the movie by telling me which one you liked better.
You may choose a book/film from the list provided or you may choose something on your own. If you choose a book/film on your own, you must first clear it with me.
