Behavior Modification

Still referring to the behavior change you selected for part one, discuss the short- and long-term benefits of continuing your ‘old’ behavior. Discuss the short- and long-term costs of continuing your old behavior. (There are benefits to any behavior – otherwise, we would not continue in it. There are also costs to changing our behavior, no matter how beneficial it is for our health. Be thorough in noting both.)

Discuss the short- and long-term benefits of adopting your new behavior. Discuss the short- and long-term costs of adopting your new behavior. (Be thorough here as well. What do you gain and lose by changing your behavior? Be sure to think short- and long-term.)

Evaluate a web site (related to the behavior you have chosen) on the internet. Please refer to the “Consumer Clipboard” in chapter 1 of your text for help with your evaluation. Submit the review in the following format:

Web address

Creator(s) of the website

Target Audience

Most recent update

Synopsis of the information on the website (half page- this is not “copy and paste”)

Two strengths of the website and Two weaknesses of the website

Would you refer someone to this website? Why or why not? (Be specific)

Behavior Modification Part Three (20 points)

It is important to set up goals and rewards when modifying your behavior. Please note that experts recommend SMART objectives (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-oriented). Also, rewards need to be something other than food or alcohol. Design a schedule for yourself (for now or in the future) and map out at least five mini goals (in order to work toward your long-term goal). Set this up to modify the one behavior you addressed in parts one and two of this behavior modification plan.

Mini Goals and Rewards

Mini-goal 1 Date Reward

Mini-goal 2 Date Reward

Mini-goal 3 Date Reward

What advice would you offer someone else who selected your same target behavior / long-term goal? (Minimum two paragraphs)
