In this project you are going to explore the encounter between the Spanish and Aztec civilizations—through the eyes of a Spanish conquistador who was together with Hernan Cortes in the conquest of Tenochtitlan.  You will create a diary entry that describes your personal experience as a conquistador.  Specifically, you will mention 3 things that struck you about the Aztec civilization, and 3 reasons why you were able to conquer the Aztecs.  Furthermore, as a result of your victory in Tenochtitlan you are going to describe one object you took out of the city with you back to Spain.  You have to decide on what object from the Aztec civilization you are going to bring back, and explain why are you taking it.

Here are some questions to help you brainstorm your choice of object: What are your motivations as a conquistador?  Where did you find this object?  What purpose can it serve you back in Europe? Look into the resources about the Aztec civilization and the Columbian Exchange to help you decide on the object you will pick.
