Evaluation Criteria:
1. SMS-related content oriented towards student’s area of interest
2. Scholarly research appropriate for the graduate level
3. Originality, style, thoroughness, clarity of main points, organization, grammar,
punctuation and spelling
4. Format – e.g. double spaced, typewritten, 1” margins on all sides,
left justified, Times New Roman or Calibri, size 12 font
5. Minimum of three (3) scholarly references
6. American Psychological Association (APA) 6th edition format
7. Appropriate use of reference citations in text and cited in reference list
8. Five pages in length (maximum) – no page breaks are necessary between sections after the
title page

Paper Organization (use headings for each of these sections): Reference APA – 6th Edition
1. Title page (not included in page length limitation)
2. Abstract (1 paragraph summary of paper)
3. Definition of SMS
4. Fundamental Principles (or pillars of SMS) – relating to your project
5. Guidance Documents (ICAO, FAA, etc.) – relating to your project that you would find helpful
6. Implementation Description (overview of how you would implement an SMS program in your area of interest; what steps would you need to take to get the program completed)
7. References (minimum 3 cited in APA format; not included in page length limitation)
(Sections 2 – 6 should follow one another with a couple line spaces, rather than page breaks)
(The title page and references can be their own pages.)

These are the only sections you need in this paper (i.e. you do not need a literature review, etc.).
