From the assigned texts that I uploaded, select the one that most interests you. This might involve reading ahead on your own. From the poetry, you may interpret and explicate one or two poems by a single author. Similarly, you may choose to explain one theme that runs throughout a couple of poems by different authors. I am interested in hearing your own voice wrestling with assumptions and implications of Negritude texts and thematic currents.
This assignment consists of a personal response to that literary text or critical theme of your choosing. That means that you will seek to address problems, questions, and other unresolved issues that the texts presents to you. Even as the perspective of the paper should be subjective, remember to support your assertions with convincing arguments. You should clearly state what your particular contention is on the first page of your paper and there should be an attempt at a resolution towards the end. You may choose to write using the first person if you like.
