Read the first of the two chapters on” Evaluating Evidence” from Browne and Keeley’s book (Chapter 7, which is entitled “How Good is the Evidence: Intuition, Personal Experience, Case Examples,” etc) . After doing so, comment on at least 3-4 points that you think are most important to remember when evaluating the quality of the reasoning in any piece of writing we’ve covered in class so far (any of the formal essays or sample definition papers will work for this analysis). Are these issues things that you’ve considered before (or not)?
After enumerating things you want to remember, spend a paragraph or two of the required 4 paragraphs evaluating the evidence quality in one of the non-fiction pieces we’ve read so far this semester. Your analysis should include direct quotations from both the piece you’re examining and Browne and Keeley.
