Assignment

Create a 15+ slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation based on the assigned investigation. You are to provide an update to an investigation you are the lead investigator. The update is to state and local police executives, elected officials and the district attorney. After this meeting there will be a press conference before a hostile press. Include at the end of your briefing how you intend to address the press. The presentation is not open to the public but there is a tremendous amount of pressure on you to complete the investigation, make an arrest and bring this case to a conclusion. It is clear to you that the elected officials and the public want a conviction. This case is a high profile and has been the subject of local news stories for weeks and the press and public are demanding results. You know that your Commander and the Police Chief want this case to be resolved and have made it clear that the investigation must be correct and complete. There is no room for error. Describe your case the initial steps taken by the responding officers and the investigative process your team is taking to develop information and evidence to present to the district attorney for prosecution. Remember, your investigation must follow a process, you must consider legal requirements and restrictions in how the investigation is conducted, the interviews of possible witness and interrogations of suspects. Include as part of your investigation briefing what the witness and suspects have said and how you deal with a suspect who refuses to talk to you (don’t use name call them witness or suspect A, B, C……)
