There are numerous Christian and Jewish (Reformed, Conservative, Orthodox including Chabad Lubavitch, which is very Orthodox. The Jewish ones will be listed on a separate document on canvas.
It would be a good idea to contact the group before you attend, but it is not necessary to do so. The place of worship must be from a religious tradition that you do not practice or have grown up in. There is a tendency not to feel comfortable doing this. If so, team up with another classmate. Former students tell me everywhere you go, the people will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They also tell me this experience is so valuable, they tell me to never drop it as a course requirement.
You will then write a short report answering the following questions: 1) Where and when did you visit? 2) Describe the environment you observed. 3) Describe what took place. 4) Tell what you learned. 5) What stood out to you? 6) Did you experience anything your text book mentions, or what you learned in this course? 7) What are your observations or opinion concerning what you experienced? (Your report will not be accepted on whether your opinion is positive or negative. In fact it would be good to include both.) 8) Did you find/receive any handouts?  If so, attach them.
2. You will repeat choice # 1 to fulfill your second requirement, but if your first choice was Christian or Jewish  the second choice must be other than a Jewish or Christian place of worship. If you are not Christian or Jewish, you must choose a Christian or Jewish place of worship as one of your choices. If your first worship experience was a GROUP OTHER THAN CHRISTIAN OR JEWISH you may substitute doing the Study Guide Questions on Chapter 5 JAINISM/SIKHISM (Module 8), or chapter 11 ALTERNATIVE PATHS (Module 9) in Canvas.
