You will write a paper (APA style) using your 15 articles and submit that also in Blackboard. The paper must include a title page, an abstract, the body of the paper and a reference page. It should be around 15 pages in length. Our library staff is very cognizant of resources for psychology and counseling and there is also a writing tutor available to help you. Refer to the grading rubric for more information on the quality of writing expected by a graduate student. Since many of you have not taken the research class, do not attempt to use level headings.
Elements of a Well Developed Paper:
1. Article Requirements (Empirical, peer-reviewed, research articles published in a professional journal such as JDC, Guidelines, Counseling Today or APA publications.
2. Proper title page (Attention to punctuation, placement, length, etc.)
3. Well-written abstract (150-250 words)
4. Introductory paragraph begins body of paper/conclusion ends paper
5. Organization and Development
* Effective title
* Appropriate opening statement of topic
* Effective use of transitions;
* Unity and coherence of paragraphs; good development of ideas through supporting details and evidence
* Ease of readability; appropriate voice, tone, and style for assignment; clarity of sentence structure; appropriate variety and maturity of sentence structure and mechanics
* Grammatically correct sentences; absence of comma splices, run-ons, fragments; absence of grammatical errors; accurate spelling
* Careful proofreading
* Times New Roman font (12 pt.)
*Attention to APA style is essential.
