You will cite five sources total. Two primary sources:
a) At some point in the essay reference the Ford Manual.
b) I want you to cite an article from the historical Free Press or Historic New York Times database that corresponds to your characters experience. One scholarly journal article. I will not accept any online magazine articles or websites. An online piece from CNN.com does not qualify as an academic article for example. I will grade down essays that fail to cite appropriate journal articles. The journal article is an excellent way to research your characters social historical background. Cite two of the following secondary sources: Ragtime, American Urban Form, a book about the city your character will live in (if your character lives in Detroit use Scott Martelles book for example.)
