As a requirement for this course, each student must read and critique one journal article dealing with elementary mathematics. The article critique must be at least two typed, double-spaced pages. Include your name, course title/section number, and date on the top right corner of the page. You must then cite the article in the latest APA format. Following the bibliographic citation, you must provide a complete summary of the article. Label this section “SUMMARY.” In this section, give a complete overview of the article including subjects, research problems, review of previous literature, methodology, conclusions, discussions, and/or future recommendations. Then provide a critique of the article. Label this section “CRITIQUE.” In this section, give an evaluation of the article. The critique should include the following questions, but do not limit the information to the following questions. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the research? How do you feel about the quality of the research? How do you feel about the research in general? Do you agree with the method, findings, and/or conclusions? Why or why not? What insights can you offer the author(s)? Will reading this article affect you as a teacher/counselor? If so, how? What are the implications of the article? What is your feeling on the general concept of the article?
