• Find a 5 – 10 minute argumentative discussion or debate on YouTube of interest to you between two or more people in which there is enough back and forth discussion from each of the people for analysis. Provide URL link to video in assignment.

• Make reference in your answers to concepts and material in the textbook Arguing with People.

• Assess the argumentation process using the following criteria taught in class in weeks 22 and 23 by answering the following questions. Point form is allowed.

1. Do any of the argument partners violate any of the 11 Principles of Argumentation in Critical Thinking text, pages 20 – 23. Explain and support your answer with reference to the Critical Thinking textbook. (10 marks)

2. Identify the Stages of Argument in one part of the argumentative discussion. Explain with specific reference to the discussion you are analyzing. See slide 11, week 13B lecture slides. Also, see pages 30-35 of Arguing with People. (5 marks)

3. State which Kind of Argument is most evident in the discussion? Are different argument partners demonstrating different kinds of argumentation, or are all argument partners involved in the same kind of argument? See slide 12, week 13B lecture slides. Also, see pages 35-47 of Arguing with People. (5 marks)

4. Do any of the argument partners have hidden or strategic goals? Explain and support your answer with reference to the Arguing with People textbook and the argumentative discussion you are analysing. See pages 57-58 of Arguing with People. (5 marks)

5. Do any of the argument partners demonstrate “coalescence”? Explain why or why not with reference to the Arguing with People textbook and the argumentative discussion you are analysing. See pages 62-66 of Arguing with People. (5 marks)

6. Do any of the argument partners demonstrate “aggressivity”? Explain and support your answer with reference to the Arguing with People textbook and the argumentative discussion you are analysing. Also, see pages 66-69 of Arguing with People. (5 marks)

7. Which argument partner do you find most convincing? Why? Explain and support your answer with reference to course material. (5 marks)

Total out of 40 marks to be converted to a mark out of 10%.
