Any topic (writer’s choice)

This week we will discuss data analytics and health informatics.

There are three discussions here and each student is to add to the discuss and provide examples.

You can respond to any student with additional questions or add to their ideas.

Question/Point One:

Where does all of the health data about us, patients come from?

Is there so much data about patients, do you think hospitals and clinics really can deal with all of the data? Is there too much?

Provide and example of where health informatics and data analytics has made a difference–where someone used analytics to change a care delivery program or did something that changed patient outcomes.

BONUS DISCUSSION:

Given the current COVID-19 situation provide/describe an (one) example of how data analytics is helping the nation deal with this?

Review these and refer back to them to complete part of the discussions:

All of the data available and the analysis that is provided from informatics and data analytics has a myriad of administrative uses–however–the clinical uses of the data and the analytics that accompanies the data is the most useful. Patient care is augmented when the data is used to advise on treatments, provide accurate information on populations and when used in predictive models.
