Society is facing a health crisis due to the rise in pathogenic bacterial resistance to
antibiotics. This is not helped by big pharmaceutical companies scaling back or even
eliminating research due to a perceived lack of profitability in manufacturing and selling
antibiotics compared to other drugs.
What steps do you think engineering and the sciences, and society in general need to
take to address the problem of tackling antibiotic resistance?
Your answer should be a maximum of 1 page long (references can be put on a
second page).
Your report should be fully referenced within the text, including any pictures or diagrams
used. Also make sure you include at the end of the report a list of all References used in
the text.
On-line encyclopedias, such as Wikipedia, are not acceptable as a reference – you must
quote the original source (e.g., journal article, book, technical report, company website
etc.).
For a guide on how to use references in the text and compile a reference list, refer to the
separate Assignment Guidelines loaded up on D2L.
Any blatant copying of other work, such as cutting and pasting of text from web
pages, will be penalized. Late assignments may not be assessed.
