While there has been a drastic reduction in illiteracy levels globally, a lot needs to be done to ensure that the 100% attendance goal is met by 2015. Despite the reduction of the number of children out of schools from 100 million to 57 million, only 9 out of ten children are privileged to attend primary schools (Evans 1). This is attributable to funding from donors and developed nations. This paper, therefore, seeks to analyze the issues of poverty reduction with reference to the article “Education – A better way for the US to give foreign aid.” In doing this, I will disagree with the author on the issue of investment in education as a quickest way to eliminate poverty in an attempt to prove that the facts he has presented in the article are lopsided and not comprehensive.
