Assignment 1 Task: a critical analysis of management theories and the extent to which they reflect the contemporary experiences of managers. 1. In what ways are the managers’ experiences of managing people similar, and in what ways are they different to each other? What factors contribute to the similarities and differences?

2. To what extent do the managers’ experiences reflect management concepts, theories and frameworks?

3. How effectively do the concepts, theories and frameworks explain what the manager is doing and why they are doing it?

4. Drawing on the scholarly literature, what are the major strengths and weaknesses of the concepts, theories and frameworks that you have used to analyse the manager’s behaviour?

5. Drawing on the interview data, what are the key challenges that managers experience when dealing with people?
