Alzheimer’s Disease

Please use sources from the Mayo Clinic and the national institute of aging and I don’t care about the rest.

Instructions

Use the materials in the Research Portfolio as the basis for the research paper if you’d like. You may use another topic also. You may choose any topic of interest to you–even if it is not an article from your book. For example, you may choose to analyze a favorite novel, short story, poem, movie, or choose to write a paper about a world topic in some other fashion. If you are not analyzing a novel, article etc…please run your topic by me via email just to be sure it’s appropriate for the size and scope of the paper assigned. I don’t want anyone to get overwhelmed.

While shaping the preliminary research paper into a final draft, think about capturing the reader’s interest. Use examples from the sources that not only support the thesis but also make the paper both persuasive and engaging. You may choose to do a persuasive paper or an informative research paper.

Use the outline worksheet to plan your paper. Submit the completed worksheet with your research paper assignment.

Sources

Students should use a minimum of four sources; more than four is also acceptable and encouraged. Students are should use various types of sources — for instance, three books, three journal articles, one newspaper article, and one website. Most of the sources should come from the research portfolio, although students may include sources not included in the research portfolio. Any additional sources must be added to the works cited page. You may use one Wikipedia.

In addition, remember that each source cited should have a works cited entry, and each works cited entry should refer to a source cited in the paper. Therefore, if students cite ten different sources in the paper, they should have ten sources listed in the works cited. One helpful way to ensure that students do not overlook any cited sources is to keep a list as they write. Students can use this list to create the works cited page. Maintaining an accurate list of sources is especially important to finalize the draft. Sources may have been added or deleted from the paper during revisions, and those sources must be added or deleted from the works cited.

Format and Length

The paper must be formatted according to MLA or APA style. The length of the final research paper should be between 5 and 8 pages, double-spaced. For APA style you should have a cover sheet and that does not count in the page count. For MLA style you do not use a cover sheet. Follow the MLA style heading rules for the first page. Your Works Cite page or your References page (of you’re using APA) may be at the end of the last page of your paper and do not need to be a separate page.
