Alka Seltzer Lab Procedure

Students will work in pairs to complete each lab. Each student will complete a data sheet and turn it in to the GSA. The data sheet must be written on the printout provided in the lab handout; no other forms will be accepted. Each student will write and turn in a lab report at the end of each experiment. Upload the report (without the data sheet) to Canvas.Label each section of the report. Follow the page limit suggestions given below for each section of the report. Your reports for multi-week experiments will be longer than reports for shorter experiments. Reports will include four sections: procedure, results, discussion and reflection.Only state the changes that were made and if no changes were made then state that the procedure was followed as written. Do NOT rewrite the procedure. You should include a labeled table of the all the data you collected in lab. You need to include a sample calculation for each type of calculation you performed for this experiment. For example: suppose you calculated a new concentration using MV = MV five times and you did a limiting reactant table three times. You only have to show sample calculation for it in your report. All of your handout questions should be answered in prose. This means you need to write complete, meaningful sentences in paragraph form. Do not use bullets, do not number the questions, and do not write the questions. These questions should be answered as though your audience does not know what the questions are.For example: if the question says, does the melting point range you obtained match the literature value? Yes, the melting point matched.: The melting point range obtained for the experiment was 85 87 C and it is in close agreement to the literature value of 84 86 C.References should be included, as needed, if you consulted an online source. Sources should be journal articles or reliable websites (.org, .gov, etc.). , Yahoo! Answers, etc. are not permitted. If youre not sure about a source contact your GSA or instructor.Discuss what you liked and did not like about the experiment and add how you and your lab partner(s) contributed to the performance of the experiment. Be honest, and suggest improvements to the procedure as needed. Do not say the lab was perfect and you do not have any suggestions. This section applies to the whole report. Follow the report format and writing style rules given below.
