1) A very brief biographical background to include: family, state, education, and career, birthplace, family education and earlier experiences that might have influenced his ideas.This should not be more than a page
2)Their political views- Nationalist or state rightist, position on slavery, congressional power, presidential power, basis of representation in congress (population or equal). Each of these views should be addressed in your paper. what positions did he have on key issues: how strong a central government, equal representation of states or based on population. for or against slavery issues of representation, taxes, importation, or trade. pressidential power: war powers, foreign policy, plural executive, veto poewrs, election of executive.
3)A description of their participation in the constitutional convention to include the arguments they presented and positions that they took on individual issues. Include their reasons for satisfaction or dissatisfaction with the final document, the U.S. constitution and whether they defended or opposed its during ratification. What was his contributions to the constituion: Proposals, amount of participation in debates and committees, defense or opposition to ratification, authorship of parts of the constituion.
4) A critical evaluation of what you would think that their opinions would be concerning the current relationship between the central government and the states as well as the relationship among the three national branches. You must defend your opinion giving examples of their position on each of these related issues during the convention and thereafter that support your position.
5) a bibliography of sources for your information will be required. Copies of all internet sources must be attatched. Any direct qoutes from sources must be noted in the paper. To directly copy from a source with no reference will be unacceptable and will receive a grade of 0. Your paper must be composed by you. You should not directly copy all information from one or more sources even if you reference it in your paper. wikipedia and encyclopedias are unacceptable sources.
