In 3-4 pages, please address the following issues. Briefly, explicate (in one paragraph) what Churchill argues. Then spend the majority of the paper informing me if you agree. Why or why not? Provide specific rationale for why you do or do not find his interpretation convincing.

Guidelines for Writing Papers
1. Papers must be typed or word-processed in standard-size (12-point) font, double-spaced, and with one-inch margins on all sides. No exceptions!
2. Your argument, or central theme, should be stated explicitly and concisely in your opening paragraph. Each succeeding paragraph should in some way support the argument that you are making.
3. Proofread your papers carefully for spelling, grammar, and proper sentence and paragraph structure. Poor spelling and grammar will lower your grade significantly.
4. Do not use slang, contractions (didn’t, wouldn’t, etc…), abbreviations, or colloquialism. Your own voice should come across in your papers.
5. Remember, this is a history class. When in doubt, use the past tense. And make sure you maintain a sense of time and change.
6. You should not assume that your reader has read the material or heard the lectures. Anyone should be able to understand your papers (though someone having read the materials would no doubt appreciate their content at a deeper level).
7. Use of another person’s ideas or writings must be properly cited. If you choose to use any of Churchill, or anyone else’s language, it must appear in quotation marks and be properly cited. If referencing any outside material, that must be cited as well. (see examples) Failure to do so constitutes plagiarism, and any plagiarism will result in an automatic zero for the paper.

i. Data from _____ suggests that Ward Churchill may be wrong.
