Guidelines for Argument Paper

• All students must follow the MLA style for documentation of research information and for formatting their papers.

• For this paper you will choose one of the topics mentioned below and your claim will focus on your position on the issue being discussed.

• Paper should incorporate at least 3 (maximum of 5) research sources. Your sources can be from a news magazine, newspaper, or any print media either found in the library or on internet articles from online newspapers, news sources, online journals and/or articles from academic databases like EBSCO host, Gale, etc found in the STC library website.

• The sources must be documented using the MLA format for in-text citations. Please do not use Wikipedia, enotes, askhow, etc . All sources must have an authir and date of publication.

• For this paper you will take a position on the controversial issue and develop a claim that reflects your position. The rest of the paper will provide reasons and evidence (primary and secondary) to support that claim. You will also consider at least one opposing claim to your position and address it by providing evidence/explanation/counter arguments that indicate why you disagree with that point. This paper should be at least 4 pages long.
