Coursework 2 – a 4000 word essay addressing an issue of your interest within the field media and cultural work. Suggested topics are:

You must choose a different topic to the one you have already done.

– A discussion of cultural work and developments in specific creative cities, i.e. Berlin, Manchester, Amsterdam, Beijing etc.

– A discussion of cultural work and developments in specific creative sectors, i.e.

advertising, film, art or one of the sectors discussed in class.

– A reflection on the question whether gender and ethnicity, or other dimensions of identity affect cultural work.

– A discussion of the emerging presence of amateur cultural production, for instance in the music industry or in journalism.

– A review of the forms of education and socialization that exist for particular cultural sectors.
