Outsourcing in health care

The focus of this final project is on outsourcing. More and more healthcare organizations are outsourcing as a way to contain cost and respond to labor shortages. For the purpose of this project, assume you are working for a large, primary care hospital that has no experience in outsourcing but would like to investigate this practice.

You have been asked to conduct a research project that focuses on answering four sets of questions:

1.How prevalent is outsourcing in the healthcare industry?
2.Is the outsourcing trend in healthcare growing, and if so in what types of organizations in healthcare?
3.What has been the experience of those healthcare organizations that have tried outsourcing? Has the experience been positive? Have outsourcing results reduced cost?

4.What are some potential areas of service of our hospital that could be outsourced (supplies or manpower)?
5. Which ones are likely to be the easiest to outsource with the largest economic benefit?
6. What are the best practices we should consider to ensure our first outsourcing effort is successful?
7.What are the management and organizational structure changes that might be necessary to support the program?

Please use the following as a guide for this paper. this is the grading rubics:
1. Concludes the prevalence and trends of outsourcing in the industry in specific areas, processes, and services. Evaluates specific types of organizations which have considered this option. Justifies companies offering these services
2. Appraises the literature on success and/or failures in outsourcing. References specific organizations and results.
3.Supports suggestions for areas of service or process, which could be outsourced; why these would offer some economic benefit to the hospital
4. Assesses best practices in out-sourcing including references
5. Evaluates organizational and management changes that would be needed to support this effort.
