Assessment 2 must be completed in 2200-2500 words (excluding the reference list) – 60 marks.
You are required to use the Assessment 2 Template (includes grading guide at the end), which is also
provided (with instructions) in the Assessment section of the Unit website in LearnOnline. The word
limits show the minimum and maximum word count (excluding the reference list).
Assessment 2 asks you to select three out of the four papers in one of the Assessment Topics
provided in LearnOnline.
You must only use the research papers listed in the Assessment Topics on the Unit website for
Group 1 (Week 1-7 students) or Group 2 (Week 9-15 students).
The Assessment 2 Template, which includes the grading guide, is located in the Assessment section
of the Unit website in LearnOnline.
Assessment 2 reflects the content from all lectures and tutorials, but especially from Weeks 4, 5 and 7
(Group 1), and Weeks 12, 13 and 15 (Group 2).
Please adhere to the following structure.
a. Write an introduction to your paper, including some background information on the topic
b. For each of the three papers being appraised, you need to:
* State the full reference of the research paper
* State the study type
* Write your critical appraisal, reflecting relevant components of the Research Paper Critical
Appraisal Tool (Tutorial 4 & 12 and 5 &13)
c. Having appraised the three papers, discuss:
* What you consider to be the potential implications of the aggregated research findings for
nursing practice
* How you might work toward introducing the evidence into practice into a clinical setting.
d. Write a summative conclusion to your paper.
e. Ensure you use correct English grammar, spelling and sentence construction, and properly
reference your paper using the UC APA 6th referencing style.
