Developing Practical and Valuable Research Questions

1. Describe one problematic area at your current or former workplace based on what you have already observed and/or experienced as an employee. Give examples of when you saw the problem, how it played out (e.g., details of interactions/exchanges), and your sense of what the negative consequences of the problem could be/are for the organization and its employees. (1 paragraph)

2. Then, formulate at least one research question based on the problem you described. Use the checklist in OLeary and Hunt (pages 52-55) to assess your research question(s). (1 sentence)

3. Would your research question benefit from a hypothesis? If you believe yes, formulate a testable hypothesis. If you believe no, explain your choice based on what you have learned in week 3 (see page 47 in O’Leary & Hunt). (1 paragraph)
