Present an argument that explains how the United States starting from 1865 [united states civilization II] became the united states of today. You may choose to address any events, factors, developments, consequences, or anything else that you deem relevant. In doing so, however, you are encouraged to focus on an overall theme- things like race relations, the entry of the U.S on the world stage, class divisions, cultural influences, and change, immigration etc, might be appropriate areas to consider. You are not required to discuss any or all of these areas; rather, come up with your own idea and then defend it using solid historical evidence and interpretation/explanation
