The purpose of the project The main objective of implementing quality improvement initiative in clinical pathology is to ensure that there is zero-defects performance in the process of carrying out diagnostics on the patients. In this case, defects has been define to mean deficiencies in specimens, imperfections and flaw of procedures of collecting samples thus resulting to misdiagnosis, delays, stoppage or repeat of the process. Critical analysis on these defects showed that it has nothing to do with misinterpretation of laboratory results and non-diagnostic defects, but are as a result of quality issues (D’Angelo & Zarbo, 2007).
