Homeland security

Homeland security

Paper details:

Assignment Instructions
Select ONE of the CBRN categories, then pick ONE particular agent from that category and based on our readings this term, place yourself in the role of a terrorist and offer your perspective of how a terrorist event could be conducted in your hometown, then provide your perspective on how to prevent such an attack and support your work by a variety of academic material to give your opinion more validity.

Your essay should approximately 5 pages. You will need to have a cover page or the reference page; however, they are NOT included in the page count for your essay. All references should be cited using APA format. Be sure to make a clear thesis statement and argument and use examples to support your analysis. Papers should be double spaced.

No abstract is required.

Points will be deducted for the use of Wikipedia or encyclopedic type sources. It is highly advised to utilize: books, peer reviewed journals, articles, archived documents, etc. (may be electronic of course and the Turabian manual lists all the types of possible resources and reference formats, hint…hint), and valid web sites (use caution with these).

Save your work as a Microsoft Word document entitled ‘YourLastNamewk#.doc’ (i.e., Smith1.doc) and upload this document as your assignment.

Your work should consist of (I encourage you to even use these as headings if you would like):
• Introduction (this will have a well-defined purpose statement in your intro paragraph that provides guidance to the reader about what you are going to cover in your paper.)
• Selected CBRN Agent background
• Proposed Terrorist Scenario
• Prevention Strategy(s)
• Conclusion
• Works Cited

STYLE AND CONVENTION:

All written submissions should be submitted in a font and page set-up that is readable and neat. Students will follow the APA 6 Style as the sole citation and reference style used in written work submitted as part of coursework. See http://www.apus.edu/content/dam/online-library/resources-services/Fuson_2012_APA.pdf.

All written submissions should be submitted in Times New Roman 12pt font with 1” margins, typewritten in double-spaced format. Collegiate-level work is expected to be free of grammar, usage, and style errors.

Turn It In Procedures

This course has a requirement for ALL Papers to be submitted through Turnitin. Originality Reports with a Similarity Index will be generated after the Assignment has been submitted. Turnitin supports attachments only so it is important to upload the assignment as a Word document.

Check the assignments folder for the status of your Turnitin report (which arrives about 15 minutes after submission). If there are originality issues evident in the report, you may correct them in your Word document and resubmit the assignment.

Turnitin will ignore any quoted passages in your assignment. Make sure all directly cited material is between quotation marks with a parenthetical cite at the end, for example, as in “limitations of the anarchical international society” (Bull 1977, 49). Summary citations, for example, should look like (Bull 1977). You may use block quotes, but note that these will show as questionable on the Turnitin originality report. Know that I look at the Turnitin reports closely as there can be many reasons that material is being identified — I never take the Turnitin report at face value!

Homeland Security

MUST USE ATTACHED TO COMPLETE THIS CHAPTER!

The overall purpose of this chapter is to state the contribution of your capstone project to a particular discipline or field of study. This is the SO WHAT? chapter that gives the reasons for your work.

Keep in mind that readers may skip your entire first four chapters and read ONLY Chapter 5. Thus, all the necessary information MUST be included here.

Your Chapter 5 should be structured according to the outline given below, which lists the different subheadings you need to include. Consult the explanations given for guidance regarding what information to include under each of these subheadings:

Introduction:
This is based on the introductions in Chapters 1, 3, and 4. Present the focus of the capstone project. Use referenced information from Chapter 2, with appropriate in-text citations to provide reader with background material.

Statement of Problem:
Copy this from Chapter 1. Include the major question and sub questions you have researched.

Review of Methodology:
Explain what you did to research your project, but avoid going into any detail. Give a general explanation of how you carried out your research.

Summary of Results:
Return to Chapter 4. Review each sub question and what you learned from the research. Separate each sub question as a subheading. Interpret the results of each sub question to enable the reader to understand how these results answered the major question.

Relationship of Research to the Field:
Explain how your research supported or did not support the research described in your draft of Chapter 3. Use referenced material and in-text citations to validate your research.

Discussion of Results:
What was the significance of your findings? Explain how your work adds to the body of knowledge in your field.

Conclusions:
Provide a concluding section that explains how your project answered the major question that served as the impetus for your study and research.
