The discussion this week centers around H.N. who is a 53 year old Hispanic female. Medical personnel must always be aware of cultural differences when assessing patients because this information can help the patient have a more positive outcome. When assessing this patient the nurse must take into account several factors such as age, socioeconomic and cross-cultural considerations. According to Jarvis (2016) Hispanics have poverty rates as high as 25.4% compared with 13% for non-Hispanic Whites. Hispanics also have lower educational levels with 36% not graduating from high school compared with 12% of non-Hispanic Whites (Jarvis, 2016).
