Affirmative Action

Affirmative Action Plans apply to more than just government agencies.  They are required under three federal laws:
Executive Order 11246 (1965) requires employers with 50 or more employees that have federal non-construction contracts or subcontracts of $50,000 or more to have an affirmative action plan within 120 days of the start of the contract.
The Rehabilitation Act (1973) and the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Act (1974) require employers with 50 or more employees that have federal contracts or subcontracts (construction and non-construction) of $50,000 or more to have affirmative action plans.
Other employers may also be required to create and follow affirmative action plans as a result of discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VII).
Given these requirements, do you think it’s a good idea for all employers with 50 or more employers create an AAP? [Your initial response should be at least 250 words in length and include at least one reference other than the assigned readings.] This a discussion question.
