a) Delivery of research based instructional approach involves three main steps which can be outlined as; the teacher identifying and developing the appropriate and teaching content, giving the initial instructions to students and practice and review ( Martella, & Ausdemore, 2005).
Simplicity is paramount for students to understand whereas the assessment is to gauge whether the method is working and where changes are needed. This must be done in orderly sequence. Effective instructional approaches involve using the proper vocabulary and more importantly using metaphors that help students connect the learning with daily experiences. In the observed lesson, the teacher used simple language as required in effective instructional approach. The teacher praised the students when they responded to her questions and this is commendable (Marzano, R, 2000)
b) The instructional approach used was a good one as the teacher got most of ingredients right. This was so specifically on the vocabulary used, the examples given and praising the students. However the following areas needed improvement, the setting of objectives and getting feedback and testing of hypothesis.(Barr. R, et al, 2007)
c) For one to know if the teacher was successful he must check the response of the students as communication is two way traffic. In this case the students were responding but the feedback from the students was not clear.
d) The indirect instructions approach where the teacher gives the students tests and observe them without immediate assessment.
e) In the case of feedback the teacher should have personalised the communication as opposed to a group one as it is more effective.
f) I will used the direct instruction approach as is more effective and personalised,
g) The openness of the teacher but more importantly winning the confidence of the students so that they can anything without fearing that they are wrong.

The writer identifies ten research-based, effective instructional strategies that cut across all content areas and all grade levels. Each requires specific implementation techniques to produce the effect sizes reported, so their use requires learning to use them correctly.
