Assignment Requirements

The paper must be a minimum of FIVE (5) PAGES (NOT including cover sheet, table of

contents, index, list of references, etc.), double spaced, one (1”) inch borders all around,

in 12 point, “Arial” font. Cite all references using APA (American Psychological

Topic

Each student shall select a chapter from the FBC and analyze the entire chapter or concentrate on only one topic. For example the student may select Chapter 9 in its

entirety, or limit the paper to the topic of automatic fire sprinklers only.

The paper shall analyze and articulate the relevant provisions, outline the benefits of the

code requirement, and express his ideas over how the specific requirement or chapter

promotes and contributes to the protection of property, life safety, public health, and general welfare. The student is encouraged to research historical events, catastrophes or instances where human life was put at risk due to the lack or inadequate compliance with the code minimum standards.

The paper will be graded based on the following evaluation criteria:

3. Expression of ideas (20%)

5. Comprehension and relevance (20%)
