GNO’S

THE DOCUMENTARY IS CALLED– Seeds of Death: Unveiling The Lies of GMO’s ( WE ARE AGAINST GMO)

Choose a problem that is important or interesting to you and propose a solution to it. The topic that you choose should be represented in a documentary that you use to help you analyze different angles of the possible solution. The documentary itself does not need to present ALL sides, it must just address some aspect of the overall issue. Think of the documentary more like a “starter” for you to further explore your issue (i.e. underlying question/problem) of interest, and to propose a solution to that problem by employing convincing evidence.

Your proposal should include the following elements:

The Introduction
An introduction that identifies the general problem/issue/question, and a brief description of the documentary you have chosen. Point out the how the filmmaker’s addresses the problem. Does he/she pose a solution? After a brief discussion of the documentary’s argument, make a specific claim of your own that proposes specific action, whether a change of practice or policy, to resolve a problem or need, and is suitable for your audience. The rest of the introduction should summarize the support, or justification, for the proposition. Tell the reader how the essay will support the proposition by stating whether you will list facts to support your proposition, discuss options to solve a problem or use research to prove a position. The introduction should pique the reader’s interest.

Support for Proposition
The body of the propositional essay should consist of two or three paragraphs providing evidence and reasons that show clearly the problem and its significance, clearly relate the proposal claim to the problem or need, and show that the proposal will work and resolve the problem or need. Each paragraph should begin with justification or support for the proposition stated in the introduction. The justification must be supported by research and a rational argument for application of the research to the proposition. Begin each paragraph by stating clearly the nature of the support for your proposition followed by the details of the supporting research.

Address Other Potential Solutions
The body of your essay should also address point-by-point any alternative propositions that your audience might have. Make sure you address these alternatives respectfully and realistically, and honestly weigh them against your own proposition.

Details & Evidence
Each assertion must be supported by specific research or data. Avoid making generalizations that are not supported by the evidence. State the logical conclusion based on a rational examination of the data and research cited to support your proposition. For example, a justification for the proposition that fossil fuels contribute to climate change may be: "Temperature data collected over a 100-year period show an increase in temperature directly proportional to the percentage of increase in fossil fuel consumption over the same period of time."

Conclusion
Restate the original question the essay set out to answer or the proposition supported by the essay. Summarize the main points from the body of the essay. Justify your proposition by reiterating how research supports the proposition, and how alternative propositions are not as satisfactory or convincing in terms of your desired consequences. The conclusion should transition from specific information to generalizations as they are supported by the essay. The conclusion is also a place to pose questions to the reader to encourage thinking from new perspectives.
