Let’s assume you are a juvenile probation officer, working as part of a special court initiative aimed identifying juveniles coming to court with pre-gang characteristics. The court has adopted new policy requiring that these youngsters be handled with increased supervision and special programming, all of with the intent of preventing the gang affiliation and putting the juveniles on a positive path. Given what you know about pre gang indicators, if your first task is to design the program to prevent these “at risk” kids from joining gangs or other antisocial groups, what would the program look like?
