Narrative Essay:
You will be writing a narrative essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words regarding the following prompt:
In the short story, “The Cask of Amontillado,” the reader is never told what the exact insult was that caused Montresor to seek revenge against Fortunato. Write to tell what happened before the story begins in “The Cask of Amontillado.”
First, write the introduction for your narrative essay that will grab a reader’s interest. The introduction should be approximately 150-200 words in length and may include dialogue.
Second, write the body of your narrative essay. Please include sensory details and a dialogue that clearly shows your characters’ motives, and desires, in the body of your essay. This portion should be approximately 600-800 words in length. Third, write a conclusion for the narrative essay.
Finally, choose one passage (200-250 words) of your narrative essay to rewrite, adding descriptive language and sensory details wherever possible. Highlight your revisions and attach the revised passage separately to the essay.
