Final Argument Paper Grading Criteria
Topics: Garrett Hardin’s “The Tragedy of the Commons” or Peter Singer’s “Famine, Affluence and Morality.” Remember: only make one argument.
Note that this final paper holds to the same requirements as the midterm paper with the exception of the topics (listed above).
This paper is due in class on April 22 (our final meeting).
Your argument paper will be graded on all of the following:
Clarity
Objectivity
Critical thinking
Assignment requirements
‘Assignment requirements’ can be further broken down into the following:
Title
Introductory paragraph
Thesis statement
Explain the argument
Explain your argument (only make one!)
Foresee a single objection
Explain how your thesis overcomes this objection
Closing paragraph (optional)
Format your paper according to the following rules:
Paper length (4-5 pages)
TNR or Arial font (12 point)
Double spaced
1” margins
Cite works if needed
