Action research is a process for providing meaningful interventions for real achievement problems in schools. The overarching goal of the researcher is to bridge the gap between what is and what ought to be.
Create a presentation (e.g. PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.) for you school leadership on an issue that you would like to research. Your goal should be to gain approval to conduct this research in the school/district.
In your presentation please include the following:
1. Topic
2. Introduction/Abstract
3. Literature Review: 4-5 resources
4. Research Questions
5. Participants: be sure to identify steps taken to deal with any ethical issues that need to be considered to protect the rights of the participants. There is a great article by available on-line by Nolan and Putton (Action Research in Education: Addressing Gaps in Ethical Principles and Practices, 2007) that deals with the ethical issues in action research.
