Case Study in Biological Sciences
All students have the opportunity to redo the presentation and draft. Some students may decide that they would wish to retain
marks already gained; that is their right but you must be aware that it you choose to do this that your work will be remarked
using the new criteria. A consequence of this is that your marks may be subject to change.
Case Study group presentations(30%module mark)

Each student will individually submit slides with notes (using notes pages in PowerPoint) for their presentation. You may
wish to submit your old slides or create a new presentation but please be aware that all presentations will be assessed using
the new criteria.

• Around x 12 slides
o Title and your name x 1 slide
o Introduction x 2 slides
o Main themes around x 6 slides
o Conclusions x 1 slide
o Bibliography/References list x 1
o Reflection x 1 slide reflecting on presentation experience (this is a learning development tool)
• The slides should be informative but concise and clear and not over-laden with information
• The font size should be suitable for presentation in a lecture theatre, e.g. Calibri 25-point
• Colour should be used effectively to allow the slides to be easily read
• Pictures and diagrams should be used effectively
• Slides should be appropriately referenced/sourced (i.e.citations for key references and some acknowledgement of
sources for figures etc. on the slide)
Be sure that your name and ID number are at the top of the first page of your exam Be
sure to include a bibliography. There is no specific format required, but we must be able
to find the source to which you are referring. Only include sources that you have cited in
the text. Use parenthetical in-text citations where appropriate (author name, year).
Please cite a minimum of three sources (at least one from lecture notes; at least one from
assigned readings).
