For this assignment, you will watch and critically analyze a movie in which one of the characters presents with symptoms of a mental disorder. Please keep in mind that films do not always provide all of the information necessary for this assignment, in which case you will address the missing information as part of your analysis. You will use the information from the film to: (a) assess and diagnose a character (describe symptoms) and include psychosocial stressors/impairments (“So what?”); (b) discuss/speculate how the person’s problems developed, based on the theoretical perspectives discussed in the text; and (c) what your treatment recommendations would be. If the character received treatment during the film, please discuss the type of treatment, whether or not it was effective, and if it coincides with the treatment recommendations discussed in the text. Finally, (d) discuss the film’s accuracy in the portrayal of mental illness and treatment and whether the portrayal contributes to mental health stigma in a negative or positive way.
The paper must be 3-4 pages and written in APA format: 12-point, Times New Roman font; 1” margins all around; your last name and page number in the right header; and a cover page with your name and paper title.
