The Syrian refugee crisis has been widely reported in the news in recent weeks. The facts of the crisis are that there are hundreds of thousands of displaced Syrians that are attempting to migrate to Europe as result of the ongoing war in Syria. These refugees typically migrate from Syria to Turkey to Greece. They then often head north through European Countries such as Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, and Germany. The United Nations has not definitively weighed in on this crisis, and neither has the European Union. The United States has agreed to take 10,000 refugees. And several European Countries, such as Germany have agreed to take more than that. Numerous international human rights organizations have called for more assistance to be given to the refugees. The warring powers in Syria give no sign of ceasing hostilities or helping the refugees in any way. Russia has aligned itself with the Syrian regime of Basher al-Assad. Most of the refugees have voiced and interest in settling in one of the northern European Countries.
